Introducing Molly

My name is Molly and I go to Bright Lives Social Enterprise. I am a young woman with several serious conditions, the most noticeable being Epilepsy and Conversion Disorder. Epilepsy is pretty well known but despite everything, mine is pretty poorly controlled but getting slightly better. I am down to having a cluster of major seizures every few months. Conversion Disorder by comparison is a barely known condition. However it is incredibly debilitating, causing me at times to be paralysed from the waist down, and sometime lose my speech altogether. I started visiting Bright Lives in December of 2014, and while I have been coming here twice weekly it has changed my life. When I started I could barely make decisions for myself, I had little to know self confidence, and no real skills. In the the past few years, I have had a huge boost in self confidence, though it is still fairly low. I now know how to and often do make my own decisions, I take a more active role in the decisions about my care. I have also discovered a passion and skill. Sewing and Crochet. I love it! My room is filled with things I have made and every item and project gives me great joy.

Myself and my friend Tyler decided to start this blog to help people similar to ourselves with the important decisions, realisations, and problems they need to conquer during their life, and also to help the people around them understand these things better and find it easier to accept and cope with.

In a few days there should be an introduction on Tyler, and from then on, me and Tyler will be putting together posts, about one a week, on all different topics of various challenges people may face during their lives, how to deal with them, and how people around them can help, and give success stories and experience from our own lives.

Our aim is to make a real difference to other people's lives, dispel myths and misconceptions, and improve people's knowledge of various conditions and situations.
